Unbalanced meals or large amounts of unhealthy snacks – this is the main reason why even in small children diseases such as anemia can be observed. What is the manifestation of deficiency of basic nutrients in the bodies of the youngest?

Vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D, like any other vitamin, has very important functions in the human body and participates in many processes that occur in it. It is necessary for proper absorption of calcium, which is a building component of bones and teeth. It is also responsible for the functioning of the immune, muscular and nervous systems. Vitamin D deficiency can be dangerous especially in the first months of a child’s life. It can lead, among other things, to irreversible postural defects and skin inflammation. Symptoms that may indicate a deficiency of this vitamin may be:

– restless sleep,
– bladder problems,
– constipation,
– joint and muscle pain,
– loss of appetite,
– visual disturbances,
– burning in the throat.

In addition, in the youngest ones you can still see convex bumps on the forehead and a flat occiput. Occasionally, symptoms such as frog belly still occur.

Magnesium deficiency

Magnesium is often called the bio element of life. It participates in all major processes in the human body. It takes care of the proper functioning of the immune system and the efficiency of the skeletal, circulatory, nervous, and digestive systems. Magnesium deficiency may lead to serious disorders in all these systems. This state of affairs is most often caused by an improper diet, which is based mainly on processed foods and fast food. The most common symptoms of magnesium deficiency include:

– hyperactivity,
– emotional disorders,
– aggression,
– dental caries,
– asthma,
– muscle pain and cramps.

Protein deficiency

Protein is the most important building block for muscles and bones. It is very beneficial for brain development in children. Iron deficiency can cause extremely dangerous anemia in children, and increases the risk of catching infections. The most common symptoms of iron deficiency are:

– pale skin,
– fatigue,
– headaches,
– dizziness,
– bleeding gums.

Water deficiency

Humans are made up of 75% water, so water deficiency can be very dangerous, regardless of age. Toddlers theoretically should drink four to six glasses of fluids a day, while an infant should drink a minimum of 700 ml. In reality, unfortunately, this is not the case and children most often suffer from water deficiency in the body. It can be recognized in them through fatigue, sleepiness, headaches, or constipation.
